• Begin early – A significant number of people wait until just a few days before Christmas to start their shopping. Last minute shopping is highly stressful and you will be doing yourself a huge favor by starting your shopping a month or two early. There are several stores out there with holiday sales that begin way ahead of time.

• Shop Online – If you feel a little lazy to go out and make your way through the crowded stores, online shopping  is another option you can consider. Besides being able to choose gifts from the comfort of your home, you will also find several great offers and deals on the internet. Just make sure that you are making transactions on sites that have an authentic payment system or are equipped with SSL security.

• Stick to your budget – Take into consideration your financial status and set a budget for all the gifts you are to purchase on the holiday. Only then should you choose the presents you are to purchase. This will allow you avoid the pitfall of impulsive shopping where you end up with huge credit card bills without even planning for it.

• Make a list – Actually, this is one of the first things you should do before shopping. Based on how many people you konw, it would not be easy to keep track of what should be given to whom. The best and only feasible solution to this dilemma is, of course, to make a detailed list! Additionally, make sure that you include some back-up items on your list as well, just in case some gifts aren’t available.

• Pick a gift - Consider holiday gifts that will incite emotions to your friends and family. You will ideally wish to get them something that will beam smiles on their faces upon receiving it. Make sure to purchase branded items when buying Christmas presents. You do not want to give someone a gift that will stop working after a couple of weeks.

• Keep your receipts - This is certainly obvious and you will save you lots of time and hassle in cases when you need to return any items.

• Shop preferrably on weekdays – A majority of people do their Christmas shopping on the weekends when the stores are going to be crowded. If it is possible for you to  visit shops on a weekday, you will find the ambience a lot more conducive for shopping. Moreover, you will notice that sales persons are extra cheerful when there is less crowd.

• Wrap your presents – Wrapping the gifts and adding a personalized note will make it twice as special to those who are to open it. Hence, spend a little on a fancy gift wrapper. A little extra “something” goes a long way.

• Take out price tags – Before wrapping your items, you should remove the price tags as this something that you don’t want the recipient to see.
